Job summary

Precoat Metals in Portage and LaPorte, IN is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support both plants in all HR disciplines, including labor relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, training and policy compliance. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 3 years HR experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and ADP HRIS, plus knowledge of employment laws and confidentiality.

You will partner with management to ensure compliant HR practices, manage onboarding and payroll

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree in HR preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in human resources or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS (ADP preferred).
• General knowledge of employment laws including labor law compliance, EEO, AA and benefits programs.
• Ability to maintain discretion, diplomacy and confidentiality.
• Strong time management and accuracy; effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support HR across Portage and LaPorte plants in all HR disciplines.
• Manage recruitment for hourly positions: post openings, review applications, interview candidates.
• Conduct new employee orientation; administer benefits and Open Enrollment.
• Provide guidance on compliance, training, discipline and terminations.
• Maintain HRIS data, generate reports, and manage personnel records.
• Coordinate employee relations activities to promote engagement and communication.
