Job summary

City of Clayton is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support employees across recruiting, benefits, payroll, HRIS, training and employee relations. The role emphasizes detail, confidentiality, and dependable execution of HR processes.

You’ll engage with workers and supervisors, handle records, and collaborate with Payroll while learning municipal HR systems. The position offers standard hours with occasional extended hours for events.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible HR experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field; HR certification preferred.
• Experience with HRIS, payroll and benefits programs.
• Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, and facilitate hiring for City positions.
• Administer benefits, leave, and other HR programs.
• Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate earnings, benefits and deductions.
• Maintain HRIS and personnel records.
• Support onboarding, recognition, engagement, and employee events.
• Help develop initiatives to support morale, communication and culture.
• Respond to questions from employees, applicants, and supervisors.
• Support training and professional development initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with employment laws and HR best practices.
• Stay current on HR trends, technology and employment law.
• Support Senior HR Generalist and HR office operations.
