Job summary

Catholic Charities in Yakima, WA seeks a skilled HR Generalist to support daily HR operations, including compliance, records management, and employee relations. The role has a dedicated HR specialization and requires discretion, accuracy, and professionalism.

Responsibilities include administering leaves, unemployment claims, performance management, onboarding, and benefits coordination, with a focus on nonprofit operations and bilingual communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and professional HR certification (PHR or SHRM-CP), or associate’s degree in business, communications, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
• 3 years’ experience in Human Resources required.
• Non-profit experience is highly desired.
• Bilingual English & Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administers federal and state employment related leave and accommodation laws; audits employee records and postings.
• Administers workers’ compensation processes and unemployment claims; represents organization at hearings as needed.
• Handles performance management support, coaching, and corrective actions; maintains performance improvement plans.
• Serves as primary HR contact for employee inquiries and escalates concerns to HR leadership.
• Manages compensation programs, prepares documentation and submits to Payroll on time.
• Supports onboarding, HRIS training, and time/attendance system usage.
• Communicates HR information to staff and participates in meetings and events as required.
• Provides back-up for HR functions and supports special projects as needed.
