The South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff (ORS) is seeking an HR Generalist to support benefits, recruitment, and onboarding in an in-office role located at 1901 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201. This position emphasizes accurate benefits information, robust onboarding, and compliance with SC HR regulations.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree and at least three years of HR experience, with knowledge of PEBA programs and the SC Enterprise Information System (SCEIS) being a plus.
The South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff (ORS) represents the public interest of South Carolina in utility regulation for the major utility industries – electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water/wastewater, and transportation – before the Public Service Commission (PSC), the court system, and state and federal regulatory bodies. Additionally, the ORS houses the state’s Energy Office, Broadband Office, Equipment Distribution Program (EDP), and has responsibility for oversight of railroad safety and natural gas pipeline safety in South Carolina.
The HR Generalist will assist in all areas of Human Resources while serving as the primary point of contact for employee benefits, recruitment and selection, and onboarding. Job duties include:
Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience in human resources programming.
Knowledge of human resources principles and practices and laws and regulations affecting human resources. Knowledge and experience working in the administration of benefit programs offered by the state of SC through PEBA. Ability to exercise sound judgment and extreme discretion. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse workforce.
Knowledge and experience working in the SC Enterprise Information System (SCEIS) or other SAP HR platform is very desirable but not required.
