Job summary

Ascend Rehab Services Inc. is seeking an HR Operations Intern (Temp) to support HRIS, onboarding, and employee records across Northern California.

You'll assist with data entry, document management, and compliance while contributing to special projects and HR process improvements. Ideal candidates are current students or recent graduates in HR, business, psychology, or related fields with strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• HR Operations & HRIS Support: Upload and organize employee documents and personnel files; assist with HR data entry and data integrity projects.
• Onboarding & Employee Experience: Coordinate onboarding paperwork and required documentation; assist with new hire orientation and track onboarding completion.
• Document Management & Compliance: Manage electronic filing and document retention; maintain confidentiality of employee information; support HR compliance audits and file reviews.
• Special Projects: Assist with HR process improvement projects; support procurement and administrative workflows as needed.

About Ascend Rehab Services

Ascend Rehab Services is a therapist-owned, pediatric therapy organization serving children and families throughout Northern California. We provide Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Early Intervention, and School-Based Services across clinics, homes, schools, and our inclusive preschool programs.

This HR Coordinator (Temp role) is designed for someone looking for professional growth and hands-on experience supporting HR systems, onboarding, employee records, and HR operations projects.

What You'll Do

HR Operations & HRIS Support

• Upload and organize employee documents and personnel files
• Assist with HR data entry and data integrity projects

Onboarding & Employee Experience

• Coordinate onboarding paperwork and required documentation
• Assist with new hire orientation sessions
• Track onboarding completion and follow-up items
• Ensure employee files remain compliant and organized

Document Management & Compliance

• Manage electronic filing and document retention
• Maintain confidentiality of employee information
• Support HR compliance audits and file reviews

Special Projects

• Assist with HR process improvement projects
• Support procurement and administrative workflows as needed

What We're Looking For

• Current college student or recent graduate pursuing Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, or related field
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• At least two years of experience previously in an HR role
• Experience working with databases, spreadsheets, or HR systems

• Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now
• Exposure to HR Operations and employee lifecycle processes
• Experience supporting onboarding and compliance initiatives
• Professional mentorship from an experienced HR team
