Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking an HR Coordinator/HR Associate to enhance the operations of the Environmental Services division by providing guidance to leadership and staff, and handling HR transactions across recruitment, compliance, compensation, recognition, and records.

The role covers HR consultation, compliance, job design, staffing, on-boarding, payroll support, and maintenance of employee data, with opportunities to improve processes and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum one year recent human resources experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer software applications.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting human resources.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment activities for P&S, SEIU, and merit positions; prepare requisitions, advertise, rate applicants and recommend candidates.
• Assist managers with development of job descriptions; recommend job classification and staffing strategy; assist with hiring board forms.
• Coordinate new hire onboarding to ensure staff have equipment and system access.
• Support staff engagement initiatives.
• Serve as an ELMS controller and assist departments with daily payroll needs.
• Review and audit timecards for compliance with FLSA, policies, and CBAs; identify qualifying leave.
