Job summary

University of South Carolina is seeking an HR Coordinator to oversee a range of HR programs for the Floyd School of Medicine Columbia. You will coordinate hiring, reappointments, and terminations for staff and faculty across multiple departments, ensuring compliance and timely action in HR systems.

Under supervision, you will back up Time & Labor and benefits management, and support interview processes while maintaining strong relationships with internal departments and adhering to university

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of regulations, laws, processes, and procedures concerning HR management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office products, and HR systems PeopleSoft/PeopleAdmin.
  • Demonstrated skills in collecting, generating, and presenting HR data.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Adherence to compliance policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate hiring, job changes, reappointments, and terminations for staff and faculty in PeopleSoft/PeopleAdmin.
  • Manage HR actions and ensure accuracy in HR systems and processes.
  • Assist on interview committees and support posting processes.

Advertised Job Summary

Under general supervision, manages and coordinates a variety of professional duties in the administration of human resources programs for the Floyd School of Medicine Columbia (FSOM). Serves and maintains good working relationships with the SOMC Basic Sciences, Florence initiative, Brain Health Network, leased Prisma Health Medical Group-Midlands along with other departments for approximately 700 employees and 1700 including affiliates. This position coordinates and manages all HR-related actions, including hiring, job changes, reappointments, and terminations for staff to include FTE positions, temporary positions, research grant and time-limited positions in the HCM-Peoplesoft and PeopleAdmin systems for various departments of FSOM. Ensures operational accuracy and efficiency initiating and monitoring HR actions. Manages, plans, and coordinates various human resources-related functions to include: processing position description updates in PeopleAdmin. Submits job postings through PeopleAdmin and assists on interview committees, as needed. This position coordinates all HR-related actions, including hiring, job changes, reappointments, and terminations for faculty and staff. Manages internal performance review process for department staff Conducts follow-up activities to ensure correct updates are processed, approved, and notated in PeopleSoft HCM and special human resources-related projects as assigned. Serves as backup for Time & Labor (T/L & ABS) and benefits management. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of USC HR policies, State of SC HR regulations and applicable federal HR laws/regulations specific to higher education
  • Prior experience with cross functional HR program management.
