Job summary

Astera Labs is seeking an HR Business Partner to join our People team in San Jose, CA. You will support G&A functions and smaller engineering groups as a trusted advisor, coaching leaders on people management and organizational health.

You will apply knowledge of US labor and employment law to ensure compliant people practices, manage employee relations, and contribute to talent reviews and workforce planning as the company scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field.
• 4–6 years of HR Business Partner or HR Generalist experience, ideally with engineering/technical exposure.
• Working knowledge of US employment and labor law (federal, state, and local).
• Experience supporting G&A functions (Finance, Legal, IT) and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day coaching to leaders on people management, team dynamics, and leadership fundamentals.
• Conduct employee relations matters and investigations with professionalism and care.
• Advise leaders on performance conversations, terminations, leaves, and accommodations.
• Partner with Compensation, HR Operations, and Legal to ensure compliant people decisions and fair pay practices.
• Support talent reviews, retention planning, and succession planning for client groups.
