Job summary

Astera Labs is seeking an HR Business Partner to join its People team in San Jose, CA. You will partner with G&A and engineering leaders, provide day-to-day coaching on people management, and help ensure our people practices are effective and compliant as we scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business admin, organizational development or related field.
• 4–6 years of HRBP or HR Generalist experience, ideally with engineering/tech exposure.
• Working knowledge of US employment and labor law (federal/state).
• Experience handling employee relations, investigations, and sensitive issues.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with managers and employees at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a reliable partner to G&A and small engineering leaders with day-to-day coaching on people management.
• Build relationships with employees and managers to provide accessible HR support.
• Coach managers on performance conversations, career development, and feedback delivery.
• Ensure compliance with US labor laws and escalate complex matters as needed.
• Support onboarding of new managers and contribute to talent reviews and succession planning.
• Partner with Legal, HR Operations, and Compensation to maintain equitable and compliant processes.
