Job summary

The Florida Legislature is seeking an HR Specialist for the Benefits section within the Office of Legislative Services, HR Office. You will assist in administering medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement programs for legislators and staff.

Responsibilities include responding to benefits inquiries, coordinating with Finance on premium and retirement payments, maintaining confidential personnel records, and supporting payroll and onboarding activities within the legislative HR

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in accounting, business or public administration, plus 3 years of related professional experience.
• Master’s degree can substitute for one year of required experience.
• Professional experience can substitute for the college education on a year-for-year basis.
• Preference given to candidates with State of Florida employee benefits and FRS experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with administration of benefits and retirement programs.
• Respond to questions about benefits for Legislators, employees, and other agency personnel.
• Coordinate with Finance on journal transfers, refunds and vouchering warrants for premium and retirement payments.
• Input data into the legislative HCM system and maintain confidential personnel records.
• Advise employees and supervisors on workers' compensation programs.
