Job description

Position: Human Resources Assistant
Location: San Diego, CA
Salary Range: $25.00 - $27.00
Classification: Staff, non-exempt. Per Diem
Position Overview:

Metis Practice Solutions is a professional management services organization that values caring, collaboration, and commitment to the independent medical practices in the San Diego community. The HR Assistant will provide administrative support to the Human Resources department. This role is responsible for assisting with day-to-day HR functions, including employee onboarding, file management, recruitment support, and general HR administrative tasks. The HR Assistant will play a key role in maintaining efficient HR operations and ensuring a positive employee experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the coordination and facilitation of the employee onboarding process, including preparing new hire packets, coordinating orientation sessions, and ensuring all required documentation is completed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, HRIS data entry, and document management.
  • Support the recruitment process by scheduling interviews, assisting with communication to candidates, and facilitating the onboarding process.
  • Support the payroll/benefits process by assisting the Payroll/Benefits Administrator assisting with open enrollment activities and with communication to employees.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist in the coordination of training sessions, workshops, and other HR development initiatives.
  • Support the planning and execution of HR events, such as employee recognition programs, team-building activities, and company-wide meetings.
  • Contribute to various HR projects as assigned, including research, data analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the HR department and overall company goals.
Qualifications | Competencies & Success Factors
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources processes
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with the healthcare industry is a plus.
