Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking an HR Administrative Support professional to handle calls, greet visitors, and assist with the onboarding process. The role includes coordinating applicant testing, pre-placement screenings, and maintaining HR records in OnBase.

The position supports HR training, content creation for social media, and ensures strict confidentiality across all HR activities. Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR practices is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with using HR tools and applicant tracking is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to incoming telephone calls by taking messages and directing callers.
  • Gives directions to the public and provides friendly, professional customer service.
  • Assists with New Employee Orientation and HR documentation processing.
  • Schedules applicant testing and pre-placement screenings (drug tests, physicals, background checks).
  • Maintains images and documents in OnBase; supports HR-related training and social media content creation.
  • Assists other HR staff and ensures confidentiality in all HR processes.

Coordinates County’s DOT and non-DOT drug testing program.Assists other members of HR staff as needed.Maintains a high level of confidentiality. Identifies process improvements and enhancements to better provide exceptional support to employees across the County.Coaches employees to utilize available HR Tools and Resources.Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma/GED. Some college preferred.2 years of job-related experience. Knowledge of Human Resources practices is preferred.Working knowledge of word processing software; good computer and typing skills (minimum 35 WPM).Organizational skills; ability to complete assigned tasks within tight deadlines and to prioritize own work.Customer service orientation with strong interpersonal skills.Good verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact and deal effectively with the public and all levels of employees.STARTING SALARY RANGE : $20.71 - $25.89 hourly based on qualificationsCLOSING DATE: Upon filling positionAll full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS).
