Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a motivated administrative assistant to support the Fire Marshal’s Office. This on-site role involves accurate record-keeping and strong customer service for county residents.

Responsibilities include creating and organizing case and incident files, handling office communications, scheduling inspections, processing plans and payments, responding to open records requests, and assisting with monthly reporting and emergency management duties during disasters as directed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 2 years job related experience.
  • Good computer and typing skills (minimum 40 WPM), Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills.
  • Strong public relations skills; ability to work under deadlines.
  • Bi- lingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Valid Drivers License.

  • Processes plans and payments for the inspection division; ensures accurate plans log for plans received and communicates with customers for status updates.
  • Responds to open records and any inquiries related to the Fire Marshal’s Office.
  • Assists with monthly reports and entry into the Records Management System for the department.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Strong public relations skills;
  • Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize own work and ability to complete assigned tasks within tight deadline, multi-tasker.
  • Bi- lingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Valid Drivers License.
STARTING SALARY RANGE:

$16.34 - $20.43 hourly based on qualifications
