Job summary

The City of Mesa is seeking an experienced Human Resources Administrator to plan, direct, supervise, and evaluate the day-to-day activities of professional HR staff across recruitment, compensation, classification, EEO/AA, and ADA accommodations for designated departments.

Responsibilities include applying HR best practices, interpreting laws, leading citywide projects, and preparing sensitive management reports. A strong supervisory background and relevant degrees are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field required, plus extensive professional HR management experience (5+ years).
  • Minimum of one year lead/supervisory experience.
  • Public sector HR experience preferred; Master's degree in HR or Public Administration and/or PHR/SHRM-CP certifications are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, supervise recruitment and selection, compensation and classification, EEO/AA, ADA accommodations, and other HR issues for designated departments.
  • Interpret and explain Personnel Rules and state/federal laws to department heads, staff, and applicants; formulate rules and policies; approve personnel transactions.
  • Lead critical projects with Citywide impact; prepare comprehensive management reports; supervise paraprofessional staff engaged in HR functions.
