Job summary

Mesa Brand seeks an Employee Relations Specialist to help create an engaging and inclusive work environment. You will serve as the initial contact for intake and assessment of employee complaints and will conduct interviews to gather information for investigations.

You will advise management on performance and conduct, help develop policies, and support with reports like EEO-1. Strong communication and HR knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Administration or related field.
  • Four years of professional HR administration experience, including two years in employee relations.
  • Must understand EEO, affirmative action, and labor relations guidance.
  • Willingness to travel 10–25% to regional offices and investigations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the initial contact for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
  • Conducts interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters; informs HR staff as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of laws related to EEO, affirmative action, unions, and labor relations.
  • Assists with plans, policies, and reports including EEO-1 and handbooks.
  • Advises parties in disputes toward fair, amicable resolutions.
  • Investigates staff, gathers facts, and summarizes findings for management.
  • Works to minimize wage loss and disruption through prompt actions.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders and maintains documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
  • Conducts initial interviews and gathers information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns; informs appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.
  • Assists with preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports including EEO-1, affirmative action plans, organizational charts, labor agreements, and employee handbooks.
  • Assists management with performance concerns, disciplinary action and conflict management issues.
  • Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior management.
  • Advises all involved parties in a dispute with the goal of reaching a fair and amicable resolution that satisfies all parties needs.
  • Applies knowledge of business, legal, and industry best practices to help involved parties reach an agreement.
  • Works efficiently and promptly such that wage loss, interruption of business operations, ill feelings, and mistrust are minimized and mitigated.
  • Investigates and interviews appropriate staff and conducts necessary research to verify pertinent facts.
  • Actively listens to all sides of a disagreement; seeks understanding of undisputed facts, identifies areas of mutual agreement, and suggests possible areas for compromise.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to HR.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in human resource management or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Four years of professional human resource administration, including two years in employee relations preferred OR its equivalent through training, education, and other experience.
