Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant for the Hepatobiliary Surgery team. You will provide comprehensive care in inpatient and outpatient settings, collaborating with surgeons and a multidisciplinary team.

The role includes OR assistance, postoperative management, and home call coverage, with weekend and holiday duties. Active NC licensure and appropriate certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Master’s degree required; doctoral degree preferred.
• Current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina; prescriptive authority where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient consultations and daily rounding on established patients.
• Complete histories and physicals, review diagnostic studies, and develop and manage treatment plans.
• Provide postoperative care, including wound and drain management.
• Coordinate patient discharges with nursing, case management, physicians, APPs, and other care team members.
• Assist in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical cases as needed.
• Evaluate HPB-related transfer requests and coordinate transfers as appropriate.
• Provide patient- and family-centered education and follow-up care.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the EMR.
