VHC Health in Arlington, Virginia is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery team. The APP will work with surgeons and a multidisciplinary team to provide care for adults with liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and biliary tract conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings.

The role includes evaluation, treatment planning, perioperative management, and longitudinal follow-up, with opportunities to contribute to quality

Formación

• Graduate degree from an accredited NP/PA program.
• Current Virginia NP/PA license or eligibility to obtain licensure before employment.
• For NPs: current RN license and national certification for the patient population.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred and required when applicable to duties.
• Prescriptive authority and DEA registration when applicable.
• Two years of APP experience preferred.
• Experience in hepatobiliary/pancreatic surgery, surgical oncology, general surgery, gastroenterology, or management of complex surgical patients preferred.
• Acute care preparation is preferred for inpatient NP roles; credentialing must align with scope.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct new patient and follow-up evaluations with histories, exams, and readiness assessments.
• Develop care plans with HPB surgeons; order and interpret labs, imaging, and tests within scope.
• Provide preoperative education and postoperative follow-up; manage wounds and symptoms.
• Participate in rounds, admissions, and discharge planning; escalate concerns to the surgeon as needed.
• Prescribe medications; monitor response and arrange follow-up.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and participate in case discussions.
• Educate patients and caregivers on diagnoses, options, and expected recovery.
• Complete timely documentation and communicate plans and results for continuity of care.
