Job summary

The Salvation Army Owens Campus in the United States is seeking a full‑time, non‑exempt case manager focused on veterans and families experiencing homelessness. You will provide direct case management, counseling, housing referrals, and eviction prevention support, while coordinating with community resources and HMIS data entry.

Ideal candidates hold a social work degree (or equivalent experience) and demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related discipline; four years experience may substitute.
• Experience with homeless, at-risk veterans, and families preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of residents, staff, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct case management services to homeless and at‑risk veterans and families.
• Provide supportive counseling and referrals for shelter, and housing; assist with eviction prevention processes.
• Learn and maintain knowledge of community employment agencies and procedures.
• Engage with, interview, and assess individuals and families for service referral.
• Enter clients into HMIS, verify activities from providers, create reports, and verify eligibility.
• Ability to manage Coordinated Entry / Assessment.
• Knowledge of SOAR training and HMIS.
• Strong interpersonal skills; work with homeless individuals toward housing stability.
• Collaborate with various agencies and understand area resources.
• Create and run reports; support staff in street outreach; attend meetings and trainings.
