Job summary

San Diego Rescue Mission is seeking a Housing Stabilizer to support individuals transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing. The role focuses on reviewing handoff documentation, monthly client meetings, and developing budgets to sustain housing stability.

You will coordinate with landlords, connect clients to resources, and maintain timely documentation in HMIS/Clarity, ensuring trauma-informed, person-centered care throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in homelessness services, housing stabilization, case management, or related field may substitute for formal education.
• Lived experience considered with professional skills and boundaries.
• Experience with housing navigation, budgeting, benefits/resources, or housing-retention services preferred.
• Ability to manage a caseload, meet deadlines, and communicate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Receive clients through a warm handoff and review documentation.
• Meet clients monthly and as needed; monitor financial stability via income documents.
• Develop realistic budgets and plans for rent, utilities, food, and transportation.
• Help clients maintain housing after program ends; identify stability concerns early.
• Coordinate with landlords to resolve tenancy concerns and prevent losses.
• Connect clients to community resources, benefits, and behavioral health services.
• Maintain documentation in HMIS/Clarity and other systems; ensure confidentiality.
