Job summary

Urban Resource Institute (URI) seeks a Housing Manager to support residents’ long-term housing stability by coordinating move-ins, tenancy education, and partnering with property management to address housing needs.

This role requires strong knowledge of NYC housing systems, excellent communication, and experience serving families affected by domestic violence. Collaboration with Case Managers and leadership ensures ESSHI/OTDA-aligned service delivery and documented outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in housing placement or supportive housing.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and families with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of OTDA regulations, ESSHI guidelines, and NYC housing systems.
  • Proficiency in de-escalation and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct housing readiness assessments and develop individualized housing plans.
  • Coordinate unit offers, viewing appointments, and move-in logistics.
  • Assist residents with completing housing applications, gathering required documentation, and preparing for inspections.
  • Facilitate lease signings and provide orientation on tenant rights, responsibilities, and building policies.
  • Ensure completion of move-in checklists and HABITABILITY documentation.
  • Provide ongoing tenancy education, including lease compliance, communication with property management, conflict resolution, and household management.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the service team and property management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in CAPS, HMIS, and other data systems; track occupancy and housing stability outcomes.
  • Support audits, inspections, and quality assurance activities; respond to housing crises with trauma-informed strategies.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and Clinical leadership to address safety concerns, DV-related risks, and housing-related issues.
