Job summary

Metro Lutheran Ministry seeks a Housing & Emergent Needs Case Manager to support homelessness prevention and emergency assistance in the Kansas City area. You will manage a caseload and coordinate rent, utility assistance, shelter vouchers, and ID services, guiding participants toward housing stability.

The role requires strong communication, compassion, and organizational skills. Office is in Kansas City, MO, with typical hours Monday–Friday and occasional evenings/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Social Work, Sociology, or Psychology preferred, but not required.
• Experience working with homeless or at-risk households.
• Experience with state/federally funded programming (ESG, MHTF) preferred.
• Commitment to helping those in need, compassion, empathy, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess needs to determine financial assistance using progressive engagement strategies.
• Advocate for participants with landlords and utility companies.
• Establish landlord relationships and perform housing inspections.
• Provide client-centered case management using a low-barrier, Housing First model.
• Enter and maintain HMIS case files in accordance with funder requirements.
• Attend Coordinated Entry, Continuum of Care, or other meetings as scheduled.
