Job summary

VOALA is seeking a Housing Specialist II to identify housing options for program participants and assist families toward sustainable independent living. This on-site role works as part of VOALA’s housing services team, providing leadership in assessment, planning, and delivery of case-managed housing services in the Los Angeles area.

Qualifications

Must pass fingerprint clearance and background check.
Ability to perform under emotional stress and conflicts with difficult clients.
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Two years of general experience in case management.

Responsibilities

Identify housing options for homeless participants and refer to VOALA shelters as appropriate.
Create and maintain a housing database linking tenants to apartments.
Communicate with landlords and familiarize them with the program and participants’ needs.
Coordinate move-in activities, rental negotiations, and service referrals.
Lead community engagement and outreach efforts related to housing services.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related discipline

Equivalent combination of education and work experience (four years)
