Job summary

Socket.dev seeks an experienced Social Services Supervisor to assist relocation specialists and supervise staff in helping homeless families transition to permanent housing.

You will guide team members, coordinate with agencies, and monitor applications using CARES, ensuring data integrity and timely updates. Strong communication, leadership, and independence are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Human Services required.
  • Minimum 4 years housing experience for homeless/low-income populations; includes 2 years in family services.
  • Group facilitation and housing advocacy experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of housing issues and tenant/landlord laws desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to supervise others and interact with clients and partners.
  • Valid New York State driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Guide housing relocation specialists and supervise housing staff.
  • Assist in orientation and training of housing staff.
  • Coordinate with DHS, landlords, and shelters for move-in schedules and leases.
  • Monitor housing applications and track placements weekly.
  • Use CARES system to review records and ensure data integrity.
  • Develop and maintain housing leads with providers and the VA.
  • Facilitate independent living workshops and address barriers to housing.
