Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or Human Services preferred; high school diploma required
  • 1+ year of experience in social services, counseling, crisis intervention, family or housing services
  • Valid NYS driver's license with insurable driving record
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work with diverse populations and teams

Responsibilities

  • Understand NYC Department of Homeless Services Client Responsibility Procedures and explain to clients
  • Ensure clients sign Permanent Housing Agreement within 10 days of arrival
  • Maintain communication with Director of Social Services and Case Managers to resolve issues
  • Ensure housing applications are completed within 90 days and filed correctly
  • Keep records of housing appointments, applications, and outcomes
  • Assist with housing searches and provide ongoing housing education to clients
