Job summary

Children's Rescue Fund in New York, NY is seeking a Housing Specialist to manage client cases aimed at securing permanent housing. You will coordinate with brokers and developers, educate clients on NYCHA forms and housing programs, and support relocation efforts from Kenilworth to Brooklyn.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Associate degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or Human Services preferred; high school diploma required
1+ year of experience in social services, counseling, crisis intervention, family or housing services
Valid NYS driver's license with insurable driving record
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work with diverse populations and teams

Responsibilities

Understand NYC Department of Homeless Services Client Responsibility Procedures and explain to clients
Ensure clients sign Permanent Housing Agreement within 10 days of arrival
Maintain communication with Director of Social Services and Case Managers to resolve issues
Ensure housing applications are completed within 90 days and filed correctly
Keep records of housing appointments, applications, and outcomes
Assist with housing searches and provide ongoing housing education to clients
