City of Columbia SC is seeking a Housing and Property Maintenance Inspector to enforce housing, property maintenance, and environmental codes. The role involves inspecting residential, commercial properties and vacant lots to ensure safe, healthy living environments for residents under city and state regulations.

You will prepare inspection reports, explain code requirements, testify when needed, train junior inspectors, and maintain records and department assets.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four years of relevant prior experience.
• Valid South Carolina Class D Driver’s License.

Responsabilidades

• Inspect properties for housing, maintenance, and environmental code compliance.
• Investigate health complaints and meet with community leaders.
• Prepare inspection reports and issue summonses as needed.
• Explain codes to owners and oversee case follow-up.
• Train other inspectors and maintain records.
