Job summary

Texas State University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Worker I to perform basic maintenance and repair tasks in university housing facilities. The role supports room make-readies and preventative maintenance work orders, collaborating with the Housing and Residential Life team to deliver reliable service to students, staff, and guests.

Reporting to a head maintenance worker, the position requires basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills, and a willingness to work outside regular

• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Must hold or obtain a driver\'s license within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs.
• Repair, replace, and maintain fixtures, equipment and systems.
• Coordinate workloads and projects with others.
• Identify necessary parts and maintain building inventory.
• Inspect building(s) and perform preventative maintenance.
• Install new appliances or equipment.
• Prepare work reports.
• Perform basic HVAC inspections and filter changes.
• Provide updates to residence hall directors and students regarding repairs and issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
