Job summary

Saint Louis Housing Authority is seeking a detail‑oriented Housing Specialist to process a large caseload for the Housing Choice Voucher program, ensuring accurate information, responsive service and HUD compliance. Responsibilities include scheduling interviews, interviewing clients, organizing data, and managing approximately 500 client records.

This non-exempt role requires data organization, calculations, documentation, and coordination with clients and landlords.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; two years of college in a related field preferred.
• One year experience and/or training in Real Estate or government fields; Certification milestones within 12 months: Section 8 Occupancy and Rent Calculation.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage large volumes of information
• Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
• Complete all reports legibly
• Read, interpret and apply complex policies and procedures
• Perform accurate mathematical computations
• Maintain files per policy and organize documents for recertifications
• Interview clients to determine data for eligibility, recertifications and compliance
• Conduct annual recertifications before due dates
• Monitor landlord and client compliance and enforce program rules
