Job summary

The Tallahassee Housing Authority is seeking a Housing Choice Voucher Program Specialist responsible for administering the Housing Choice Voucher Program in compliance with HUD regulations. The role includes eligibility determinations, recertifications, and participant briefings.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of HUD regulations, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing quality service to program participants and landlords. A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in affordable housing, property management, social services, or related administrative work preferred.
• Experience working with HUD programs and regulations is strongly preferred.
• Must become certified as Housing Choice Voucher Specialist within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Process new admissions, annual recertifications, and interim recertifications.
• Determine participant eligibility according to HUD regulations.
• Calculate tenant rent portions and housing assistance payments.
• Conduct voucher briefings and explain program responsibilities to participants.

Skills

Knowledge of HUD Housing Choice Voucher regulations and affordable housing programs

Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and tenant/landlord relations

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and housing management software systems

Strong customer service and conflict-resolution skills

Education

Associate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Services, or related field preferred

High school diploma or GED required
