Job summary

HIAS seeks a Housing Caseworker to support asylum-seeker families facing housing instability. The role manages a caseload, conducts monthly needs assessments, distributes financial assistance for housing costs, and coordinates with partners to secure stable housing.

Work will be conducted virtually from the Silver Spring, MD headquarters. This position is grant funded and contingent on funding, with remote options for applicants outside commuting distance to our offices and states including CT,

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of relevant experience in affordable housing, homeless services, or refugee resettlement.
• Fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of U.S. immigration system and asylum seeker needs; experience at immigrant services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide housing stability support via monthly needs assessments and client-led housing plans.
• Navigate rental market, assemble applications and assist tenants in securing housing.
• Cultivate relationships with housing providers and coordinate landlord partnerships.
