Job summary

Volunteers of America Upstate New York seeks a Full-Time Case Manager to provide housing case management for homeless individuals and families, helping them secure and maintain stable housing and household income. This role requires completing HUD funding requirements, calculating rent portions, and developing an individualized service plan while coordinating with landlords and partner agencies.

A related associate degree with 3 years of experience is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Human Services, Social Work or related field with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree and at least one year of experience preferred.
• Clean NYS Driver's License.
• Availability to occasional work evenings and weekends as required.
• Strong organizational skills and MS Office knowledge.
• Flexibility to respond to emergency participant needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide all aspects of Housing Case Management for a case load in accordance with VOA policies and HUD and community standards.
• Responsible for completing all HUD funding requirements including but not limited to housing inspections, rent reasonable certifications, and rental calculations at entry and annually.
• Collect recertification documentation and determine program eligibility.
• Calculate income and expenses to determine participant rental portions in accordance with VOA and HUD regulations.
• Schedule regular meetings with participants including detailed home visits at least once per month or more often as needed.
• Receive and respond to referrals within 48 hours.
