The University of Utah Housing and Dining Programs seeks a Housing Ambassador (HA) to serve as a frontline representative, delivering exceptional service to residents, guests, and university staff while supporting housing operations and promoting HDP resources.

As student staff, HAs maintain a welcoming, professional environment that supports student success and community engagement within University housing. The role is part-time, with 19.99 hours/week and a day shift.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current University of Utah student.
  • Must be in good academic, financial, and behavioral standing with the University of Utah.
  • Minimum GPA requirement: 2.0, to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Customer service and clerical experience.
  • Experience living on campus at the University of Utah.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level, friendly, and informative customer service to students, families, and visitors.
  • Respond to housing-related emails and phone calls professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintain knowledge of HDP policies, housing processes, move-in/out timelines, and FERPA regulations.
  • Address concerns or complaints and elevate issues appropriately to professional staff.
  • Complete day-to-day office tasks, including managing records (digital and paper), processing student agreements, and tracking inventory.
  • Assist with general office duties such as filing, data entry, scanning, and processing paperwork.
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance, behavior, and communication.
  • Use HDP systems and platforms responsibly; protect login credentials and confidential data.
  • Support move-in and move-out procedures, including assisting with check-in and check-out processing.
  • Notify roommates of new move-ins and communicate housing updates as needed.
  • Assist with housing opening/closing processes and maintain communication with facilities and custodial staff.
  • Report maintenance or custodial concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct tours of housing facilities for prospective students and families.
  • Represent HDP at campus events (e.g., orientations, tabling, and admissions events).
  • Support recruitment initiatives by sharing housing information and facilitating positive interactions with prospective on-campus residents.
  • Participate in occasional after-hours and weekend recruitment or outreach events.

Job Summary

The purpose of the Housing Ambassador (HA) position is to serve as a frontline representative of the University of Utah’s Housing and Dining Programs ( HDP ). HAs provide exceptional customer service to residents, guests, and university staff while supporting housing operations, promoting HDP resources, and upholding the department’s values of staff excellence, professional growth, integrity, collaboration or teamwork instead, service, and positive attitude.

As student staff members, Housing Ambassadors play a key role in maintaining a welcoming, professional, and efficient environment that supports student success and community engagement within the University of Utah residential communities.

Responsibilities
1. Customer Service & Front Desk Support
  • Provide high-level, friendly, and informative customer service to students, families, and visitors.
