Job summary

HealthNet is seeking a Housing Specialist to support its Homeless Initiative Program in Indianapolis. You will assess housing barriers, help clients search for housing, and coordinate with landlords and agencies to secure safe, affordable housing.

The role requires strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected.

Qualifications

• Requires minimum two years of experience in related field: property management, housing advocacy, or social service.
• Requires strong written and oral communication skills with ability to present to groups.
• Experience with Microsoft Office is required.
• Requires organizational, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Requires professional appearance and manner and ability to work independently and with a diverse group.

Responsibilities

• Assess housing barriers and determine housing/service needs.
• Assist clients with housing search and placement including subsidized and market-rate housing.
• Maintain positive relationships with landlords, management companies, and housing agencies.
• Document data and HMIS reporting; contribute to program outcomes.
• Provide mediation and advocacy with landlords and debtors; transport clients as needed.
