Job summary

Palette Hotels is seeking a Houseman/Maintenance Technician in Training to support guest floor corridors, foyers, stairwells, and public areas. The role includes hands-on training in preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and equipment care to prepare you for advancement to Maintenance Technician.

No prior maintenance experience is required. You will learn and perform basic repairs, assist with routine maintenance, and support a positive, guest-focused team environment at Palette Hotels.

Qualifications

• Service orientation and customer-focused approach.
• Clear communication with guests and team members.
• Ability to read directions on cleaning chemicals and MSDS.
• Safe handling of chemicals, tools, and equipment.
• Willingness to learn plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and basic repairs.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Houseman duties: Empty carts, vacuum/sweep/mop hallways and foyers, clean doors and walls, polish mirrors and elevator doors.
• Maintenance training duties: shadow technicians, assist with preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and guest room equipment.
• Learn basic repairs such as bulb replacement, drywall patching, minor plumbing leaks, and door hardware checks.
• Assist with pool, spa, and life-safety equipment logs and upkeep as directed.
• Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and hazardous materials handling.
