Job summary

Holiday Inn South Plainfield-Piscataway is seeking a Housekeeping Inspector responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. This role involves inspecting rooms, verifying cleanliness, and training staff while monitoring performance to maintain hotel brand standards.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in hotel housekeeping, strong communication skills, and the ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Minimal of two years of housekeeping experience in a full-service hotel.
  • Previous inspection or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of hotel housekeeping procedures and cleaning standards.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with hotel property management systems is a plus.

Job description

Housekeeping Inspector is responsible for inspecting guest rooms, suites, public areas, and housekeeping operations to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction. This position works closely with room attendants, housekeeping supervisors, maintenance, and the front desk to ensure rooms are guest‑ready and meet hotel brand standards.

What you will be doing

Key Responsibilities (This list is not all-inclusive, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.)

  • Inspect guest rooms after they have been cleaned to ensure compliance with hotel quality standards.
  • Verify that guest rooms are clean, sanitary, and fully stocked with linens, towels, and amenities.
  • Identify maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged furnishings and report them to the appropriate department.
  • Ensure all VIP, occupied, vacant, and arrival rooms are prepared according to hotel standards.
  • Conduct inspections of hallways, public areas, laundry facilities, and housekeeping storage rooms.
  • Monitor housekeeping staff performance and provide coaching and guidance to improve quality.
  • Communicate room status updates with the Front Office to support efficient guest check‑ins.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and company policies.
  • Assist with inventory control of housekeeping supplies, linens, and guest amenities.
  • Train new housekeeping employees on cleaning procedures and inspection standards.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests and resolve housekeeping-related concerns professionally.
  • Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate housekeeping records.

Requirements: Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including nights, holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
