Job summary

The Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa/Short Pump, part of Shamin Hotels, seeks a Rooms Inspector in the Housekeeping department in Richmond, VA. This full-time role focuses on inspecting rooms, supervising staff, and maintaining cleanliness standards to ensure a positive guest experience.

The position offers daytime hours (8:30 am–5:30 pm) with a hourly wage of $17.00–$18.75 and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, life insurance, disability coverage, a 401k plan, paid

Qualifications

• One year experience as a housekeeper or cleaner is required.
• Strong guest service skills and clear communication.
• Ability to work well under stress and handle guest complaints.
• Excellent time management and high attention to detail.
• Discretion and confidentiality are essential.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Physically able to move and lift items up to 50 lb.
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods and work day shifts, weekends, and some holidays.

Responsibilities

Job Duties

• Lead, train and supervise Room Attendants and Housepersons in a designated area to ensure all rooms and public areas meet established cleanliness and quality standards.
• Work with Executive Housekeeper, Housekeeping Supervisor and others to support the daily operation of the department, including opening/closing of the office, leading morning stand up meetings and communicating with the Front Desk.
• Assess room inventory, assign rooms for cleaning and inspect rooms.
• Verify and report status and/or discrepancies of rooms.
• Monitor linen rooms, carts and designated inventories.
• Coordinate with Engineering Department to ensure efficient maintenance and repair of items related to guest rooms and public areas.
• Perform Room Attendant, Houseperson or laundry duties as needed.
• Greet guests in a friendly and warm manner, answer their questions and address any issues with the team to ensure the guest’s stay is a positively memorable experience.

Job Qualifications

• One year experience as a housekeeper or cleaner is required and room inspection or supervisory experience is highly desired.
• Must have strong guest service skills and be able to communicate clearly.
• Must be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints.
• Time management skills and strong attention to details are critical.
• Must be discreet and able to maintain confidentiality.
• Must have dependable transportation.
• Physically able to move and/or operate large objects, such as housekeeping carts, suite furniture, large bags of linen, vacuum cleans and boxes of inventory.
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time and to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds on occasion with help.
• Must be able to work day-shifts, including weekends and some holidays.
