Job summary

Fairview Health Services at Fairview St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN is hiring a Housekeeping Aide for the evening shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.) with an every‑other‑weekend rotation to provide patients, visitors, and staff with a clean and safe environment.

The role is represented by SEIU Local 113 and involves maintaining rooms, public areas, and supply rooms while following safety and quality standards to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform cleaning duties in patient rooms and common areas.
• Understanding and adherence to safety and infection-control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of and complies with relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
• Cleans all occupied rooms daily to provide a clean, sanitary environment to patients.
• Prepares discharge units and surgical areas and completes end-of-day cleaning in surgical procedure rooms.
• Cleans and maintains offices and public areas; manages refuse disposal.
• Responds to spills and hazards to ensure a safe environment.
• Provides cost-conscious use of supplies and maintains equipment.
• Understands medication and IV solution security requirements.
• Restocks supplies and maintains linen distribution for patient care.

Job Overview

Fairview is looking to hire a Housekeeping Aide to join our team at Fairview St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This position works the evening shift from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. and includes an every‑other-weekend rotation.

The schedule is:

• Week 1: Monday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Week 2: Thursday

This position is represented by SEIU Local 113.

Provide patients, visitors, and staff a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
• Cleans all occupied rooms daily to provide a clean, sanitary environment to the patient s.
• Prepares discharge units and/or surgical procedure and completes end of day cleaning in surgical procedures rooms to provide a clean sanitary environment to the patients.
• Maintains and clean and attractive areas including maintaining of hard surface and carpeted flooring, cleans offices and public areas, collects, and disposes of refuse.
• Cleans up after emergency spills and breakage s to prevent exposure to substances that could be safety hazards.
• Maintains and performs special work assignments and reports to supervisor upon completion to comply with quality and frequency standards in department policy and procedure manual.
• Understands the security requirements of medications and IV solutions.
• Restocks paper supplies upon daily cleaning of area to ensure they are adequately filled and maintains linen distribution system to provide user areas with adequate amounts of linen to give patient care.
• Mixes, uses supplies and maintains equipment to aid in cost containment and safety
