Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a part-time Environmental Services worker at the Berrien Campus to perform daily cleaning and supply duties in patient rooms and clinical areas. The role supports nursing stations, lounges, corridors, and common areas, upholding sanitary standards.

You will be trained to handle chemicals and cleaning tools, with one week to three months of on-the-job training. Prior experience is helpful but not required, and a strong emphasis on teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and follow directives.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience desirable but not required.
• Must, after brief training, demonstrate correct use of chemicals, supplies, and tools.
• One week to three months on-the-job training.

SCHEDULE:

Part Time, 8 HR Day Shift, 7-3:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY:

To perform daily cleaning and supplying of patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, bathrooms, elevators, stairwells in a clean and sanitary manner in accordance with the standard housekeeping procedures. Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department. Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Must be able to read, write, and follow directives.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience desirable but not required.
• Must, after brief training, be able to demonstrate correct use of chemicals, supplies, and assigned tools.
• One week to three months on-the-job training.

WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION

Comfortable routine working conditions with the possibility of irregular schedule including weekends. Exposure to certain levels of stress. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
