Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services worker for full-time floor cleaning and refinishing at the Main Campus, within the Environmental Services department. The role includes maintaining carpeted and hard floor surfaces and performing preventive maintenance on floor equipment.

The position requires use of automatic floor machines, rotos, vacuums, and related cleaning tools, with a schedule of 8-hour day shifts from 7:30 a.m.

Qualifications

• Must satisfy requirements of pre-employment and annual physical including being able to climb ladders.
• Must be able to demonstrate skills and knowledge of proper use of chemicals and equipment in stripping and refinishing floors and in shampooing carpeting to achieve the desired result.
• Must be able to pass a test of skill and mechanical aptitude to detect any equipment malfunctions for safety to self and others.

Responsibilities

• To perform the major floor cleaning and refinishing functions in accordance with the standard procedures of the housekeeping department and in accordance with the facility’s objectives.
• Cleans and maintains all carpeted and hard surfaces in the facility.
• Perform preventive maintenance on special floor equipment.
• Will use cleaning devices including automatic floor equipment, 20’’ roto, commercial vacuum cleaners, and 24 oz. mops, wringers and all other necessary equipment, tools, products, and supplies in the performance of the job.
• Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS- ADA INFORMATION:

Comfortable routine working conditions with the possibility of irregular schedule including weekends. Exposure to certain levels of stress. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. Exposed to hazard of burns and cuts due to working with hot equipment. Constant standing or walking with regular periods of concentration.
