Job Description Summary
The House Attendant (HA) works with the Housekeeping Management Team to assist Room Attendants on assigned floors or buildings by collecting dirty linens and transporting to the laundry area, delivering clean linens to Room Attendant carts, and retrieving trash throughout the hotel. Assist with the commercial laundry function and/or the cleaning of public area spaces, exterior entrances to the hotel, and parking lot. Will be assigned special projects as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.
Responsibilities
- Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
- Work with Room Attendants with heavy items such as mattresses and linens. Deliver linens and other supplies to Room Attendants.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of floor closets and corridors, including removing trash, wiping down shelves/counters, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, and storing non-floor closet items appropriately.
- Respond promptly to guest requests and maintain high service standards.
- Clean designated areas such as public restrooms, storage rooms, and other public spaces.
- Report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
- Respond to guest complaints and special requests to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Minimize waste of supplies and amenities across all housekeeping areas.
- Deliver lost and found items following established procedures.
- Assist with deep cleaning projects as needed.
- When assigned to laundry, monitor supplies and equipment, operate washers and dryers, inspect linens for damages, and fold/store clean linens, reporting damages.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other shifts and management.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
- Experience in the extended stay industry is a plus.
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages are beneficial.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about the facility regularly.
- Ability to lift or pull items weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work with cleaning chemicals safely.
