Job summary

The Courtyard by Marriott Harrisonburg is seeking an Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in daily hotel operations and in upholding Marriott brand standards. The AGM is a hands-on leader who walks the property, engages guests and associates, and ensures issues are resolved promptly.

Responsibilities include overseeing Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and F&B, acting as Manager on Duty, and driving guest satisfaction, financial controls, and team performance.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel management or supervisory experience is required, with Marriott experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Front Office operations, guest service and recovery, associate supervision, and room inspections.
• Familiarity with Marriott systems, including GXP, is preferred.
• Knowledge of basic hotel financial controls, scheduling and labor management, and inter-department coordination.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily hotel operations with attention to Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Bistro/F&B, and guest experience.
• Serve as Manager on Duty and act on behalf of the General Manager when the GM is unavailable.
• Maintain a strong presence at the Front Desk and throughout the hotel.
• Conduct daily property walks and guestroom inspections to identify issues.
• Coordinate with Executive Housekeeping to ensure rooms are cleaned and guest-ready.
• Partner with Maintenance to track repairs and reinspections.
• Review guest feedback and initiate corrective actions with leadership.
• Support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management for associates.
