Job summary

Canopy by Hilton New Orleans Downtown is seeking a hands-on Hotel Maintenance Technician to ensure the hotel operates smoothly. You will perform general maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and conduct preventative care across guest rooms, public spaces, and building systems, contributing to an exceptional guest experience.

Ideal candidates have prior hotel maintenance experience or a willingness to be trained, with good English communication, physical stamina, and a proactive, customer-focused

Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance experience in a branded or luxury hotel environment preferred, but we are willing to train the right hospitality professional.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drywall, PTAC units, and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of fire protection and life safety systems is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Excellent English communication skills; read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting throughout the hotel.
  • Respond to guest room service calls and work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems.
  • Inspect guest rooms and facilities to identify maintenance needs and potential issues.
  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and PTAC units.
  • Assist with maintaining hotel equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Support fire protection, life safety, and other building safety procedures as needed.
  • Maintain the exterior of the property, including basic upkeep and repairs.
  • Assist with housekeeping and other hotel operations when needed.
  • Document completed work and communicate maintenance issues to leadership.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Provide friendly and professional service when interacting with guests.
  • Work independently while also contributing to the TEAM.
  • Complete additional duties and projects as assigned by Engineering leadership.
