Job summary

Miami Lakes Hotel on Main is seeking a Maintenance Tech I in the Engineering department to ensure the upkeep and safe operation of hotel facilities. The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance across rooms, public spaces, and events, using standard PPE and following hotel procedures.

The ideal candidate will have high school completion, hospitality maintenance experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Must interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the company.
• Proven housekeeping or similar hospitality experience.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with cleaning products, equipment, and industry best practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous supervisory or leadership capacity is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and follow through.

Responsibilities

• Use protective personal equipment when applicable.
• Perform maintenance tasks in guest rooms and common areas (light plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC, TV maintenance).
• Clean, lubricate, and maintain tools and equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
• Daily walkthrough and upkeep of property/grounds.
• Collaborate with team on larger maintenance projects.
• Keep accurate records and report major issues to supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Assist with setup/breakdown of equipment for events.
• Greet guests and address their needs; communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
• Prioritize and organize work assignments.
• Work under stress and exercise good judgment.
• Maintain confidentiality of guests and hotel information.
• Interpret readings from meters/gauges and other instruments.
• Focus on details; be quick and accurate.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts as needed.
• Ensure professional appearance and protect assets.
• Maintain facility and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Engineering Supervisor or DOE.
• Train and instruct other staff members.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
