Job summary

Hotel Madera seeks a Chief Engineer to lead maintenance across the hotel, ensuring guest service and sustainability standards are met. You will oversee bids, vendor contracts, and small projects (PIPs), while supervising and coaching maintenance staff to uphold brand values.

The role requires prior supervisory maintenance experience and an HVAC certification. You will manage and test life safety systems, coordinate contracts, and perform diverse repairs to maintain operations and guest

Qualifications

• High School diploma and/or trade school coursework in a related field is preferred.
• Previous supervisory engineer/maintenance experience (or equivalent training) is required.
• HVAC certification is required.
• Other certifications may be required based on local needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead interviews, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates to ensure they perform in accordance with brand standards and HHM core values.
• Manage and coordinate bids, quotes, and contracts for 3rd party vendors.
• Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and report on work progress.
• Perform and oversee diverse technical repairs including sheetrock, painting, furniture refinishing, and replacement of electrical/plumbing fixtures.
• Troubleshoot kitchen equipment and repair heating/cooling pumps; install/program televisions.
• Maintain PM records on all rooms/equipment and test life safety systems for 100% operation.
• Coordinate service contracts to ensure compliance with codes.
• Maintain building exterior and curb appeal following EarthView sustainability guidelines.
• Practice safe work habits per MSDS/OSHA to boost guest satisfaction scores.
