Job summary

Island Hospitality Management is hiring a Chief Engineer to lead maintenance for a hotel in Illinois. The role focuses on resolving problems, hands-on building maintenance, and managing maintenance staff. Flex scheduling may be required to support hotel operations.

The Chief Engineer will oversee electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, carpentry tasks, pool maintenance, and adherence to applicable codes. Prior hotel maintenance experience is preferred and a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times
• Hotel maintenance experience preferred (4+ years)
• Experience managing maintenance/engineering teams (electrical, plumbing, HVAC)

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in electrical, mechanical, plumbing systems and hotel equipment
• Perform ongoing room preventative maintenance
• Prioritize and schedule work orders; resolve maintenance problems and guest complaints
• Coordinate with contractors and hotel management for bids and proposals
• Inspect property to identify needs and ensure budget adherence
• Supervise and schedule maintenance staff
• Ensure pool, exterior areas, and facilities meet standards and codes
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire and building inspectors
