Job summary

Island Hospitality is seeking a Chief Engineer for our Effingham, IL hotel. The role focuses on resolving maintenance issues, performing preventative work, and ensuring safe, high-quality facilities for guests.

You will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate with inspectors, and manage budgets while maintaining guest satisfaction and brand standards. A flexible schedule and hands-on problem solving are essential elements of the position.

Qualifications

• Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in electrical/mechanical/plumbing systems & hotel equipment.
• Conducting ongoing room preventative maintenance.
• Prior maintenance/engineering management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair hotel electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
• Perform ongoing preventative room maintenance.
• Prioritize and schedule maintenance work and respond to issues.
• Carpentry, painting, drywall, and carpet repair as needed.
• Inspect property to identify maintenance needs.
• Ensure department expenditures meet budget requirements.
• Solicit bids from contractors and evaluate proposals with hotel management.
• Coordinate with local inspectors to ensure code compliance.
• Maintain pool cleanliness and chemical levels.
• Oversee exterior maintenance when not contracted.
• Supervise and schedule maintenance staff.
• Maintain guest satisfaction and meet brand/internal standards.
