Job summary

The Federal Hotel Downtown Carson City, an Ascend Collection Hotel, is seeking a culinary prep specialist to support pantry, fry stations, and other kitchen areas. You will follow recipes, maintain quality, and ensure proper food handling and sanitation throughout shifts.

Responsibilities include coordinating with team to assemble orders, stocking stations, and assisting with buffet setup while adhering to safety standards and portion controls.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent experience; culinary certificate or degree preferred.
• 3–6 months in a food/beverage services environment or establishment.
• Strong knowledge of operating industrial sized ovens and cooking ranges.
• Knowledge of preparing different cuisines, relishes, soups and salads.
• Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
• Must read, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare culinary delights for guests and hotel clientele.
• Maintain production standards and quality; follow recipes and portion controls.
• Set up and restock stations; manage par readiness and temperature controls.
• Rotate perishables and date-code items; ensure proper storage.
• Assist in cost-control efforts and reduce waste.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and hotel policies.
