Job summary

HEI Hotels & Resorts at Kimpton Sylvan Hotel in Atlanta, GA, is seeking an experienced Engineering Leader to maintain building systems and lead the Engineering Department. The role focuses on safety, energy efficiency, and adherence to SOPs, with responsibility for preventive maintenance and capital projects.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related trades, plus strong leadership and communication skills to manage a diverse engineering team.

Qualifications

• Vocational schooling, military training, certification and/or experience in building related trades (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry).
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience at a comparable location.
• Hotel experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hotel operations, security and safety programs, budgeting, and long‑range planning.
• Skilled in HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, landscaping.

Responsibilities

• Assume control of the Engineering Department when the Chief Engineer is unavailable.
• Understand all building systems: Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Life Safety, IT, Kitchen, Laundry, Pool, etc.
• Follow preventative maintenance procedures for guestrooms, public spaces, grounds and building envelope.
• Maintain accounting procedures to operate within budget and stock levels.
• Interview, hire, train, evaluate performance, and manage discipline as needed.
• Supervise and develop engineering staff to maximize productivity.
• Maintain records supporting budgets, PM programs, and capital projects.
• Monitor and maintain Engineering spaces in a safe, clean, energy‑efficient manner.
• Tour the hotel daily, flagging items for engineering or other actions.
• Serve as property expert on Life Safety and train managers in these areas.
• Understand Brand procedures and associated problem tracking workflows.
