Job summary

Mainsail Lodging & Development is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance, safety, and energy use at Innovation Hotel. The role requires supervising maintenance staff, ensuring compliance with fire and safety regulations, and coordinating preventive maintenance programs across departments.

The position emphasizes guest satisfaction, cost control, and profitability, with a focus on training, inspections, and timely response to emergencies.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field.
• Supervisory experience required.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Certification as required by federal, state or local governing agents pertaining to trade requirements (HVAC, pool operation, electrical).
• Current certification and licensing to operate and repair the hotel's boilers and chillers as required by the state.
• Must have a valid driver’s license for the applicable state.

Responsibilities

• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
• Comply with standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Review Maintenance staff’s hours for payroll and submit through payroll system.
• Oversee Preventive Maintenance program and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Coordinate all inspections of fire safety systems and maintain safety standards.
• Manage energy expenses and pursue energy conservation goals.
• Inspect guestrooms and property weekly to ensure upkeep and safety.
• Assist guests with exceptional service and resolve issues promptly.
