Job summary

The Historian Hotel is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the engineering department, oversee maintenance of the hotel building, systems, equipment and guestrooms, and guide the maintenance team. This role requires proactive upkeep, safety compliance, and guest-focused service delivery.

The Chief Engineer will manage repairs, coordinate with contractors, prioritize tasks impacting guest experience, and ensure effective communication across hotel departments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of maintenance or engineering experience in a hotel or similar facility.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Electrical and/or plumbing certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proactively maintain the building, systems, and equipment; use preventive maintenance and coordinate contractor support when needed.
• Ensure completed grounds and custodial work as needed.
• Operate tools and power equipment safely and follow safety guidelines.
• Perform repairs across plumbing, painting, carpentry, sheetrock, and electrical tasks.
• Prioritize repairs that affect guest experience.
• Communicate with hotel departments to ensure timely responses.
• Listen to guests and address concerns with appropriate departments.
