Job summary

Homewood Columbus/Polaris is seeking an Assistant General Manager to drive hotel operations, maximize guest and employee satisfaction, and optimize revenue in line with company standards.

You will lead front desk, housekeeping, reservations and staff collaborations, manage budgets, supervise department leaders, and ensure safety and service quality.

The role requires strong communication, a flexible schedule, and hands-on leadership to deliver a superior guest experience and solid ROIC.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent; hospitality studies preferred.
• Strong budget management, cost controls, and knowledge of financial statements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate activities across front desk, housekeeping, reservations, guest service, security, and maintenance.
• Maximize ADR and occupancy levels.
• Collaborate with Sales and Operations to align strategies and optimize performance.
• Motivate, coach, and train department leaders to enhance service quality and efficiency.
• Understand financial statements and budgets, including staffing guidelines and cost controls.
• Implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining service standards.
• Guide policies, procedures, and systems to improve operations.
• Ensure guest expectations are understood and met by all staff.
• Oversee VIP program and ensure proper execution.
• Manage cash, checks, and card transactions with policy compliance.
• Prepare and manage team schedules; reconcile room discrepancies with Executive Housekeeper.
• Complete weekly and monthly reports; attend required meetings.
